Obama
“President Obama, you’ll never guess who’s standing between us and our new energy economy…”
The above ad was placed in USA Today on Feb 17, 2009. Paid for by the Athabasca Chipewyan and Mikisew Cree First Nations in partnership with an American environment group called ForestEthics, the ad is to draw attention to Alberta’s tarsands and the resultant environmental damage.
What I found interesting, is that we have two Canadian groups that are relying on an American president to change their futures. Neither their provincial nor federal government is listening.
If you take this a step further, there is a whole minority opinion in Canada who feel that President Obama is the greatest thing since sliced bread while demeaning, often rightly so, their current Prime Minister.
I wonder how often this has happened in the past. If anyone has suggestions, let me know.
